Snowboarding is a great winter sport. The image of a skier gliding downhill with great speed fascinates everyone. However, before jumping in the car and heading for a ski resort, you need to take some preparation for snowboarding. Below is a description of a list of items that are ideal for beginner snowboarders.
Pick a ski resort
While choosing a resort, consider a few factors like distance from your home and resort amenities.
Snowboard
The size of a snowboard needs not to be large. It is because large-size snowboards are difficult to maneuver. In this case, smaller size models are better good control and balance.
Snowboard bindings
Choose a pair of snowboard bindings that are compatible with your snowboard and riding style, nicely fit your boots, and helpful for all-day riding.
Snowboard boots
The different models of boots vary in terms of lacing systems, flexes, fits, and styles. As a beginner the most important thing you need to make sure that the pair of boots you are wearing is a nice and secure fit with your legs. Developing your snowboarding skill depends on the comfortable fitting of the snowboard boots.
Helmet
A helmet is an essential protective gear. Wearing it will save you from sustaining brain injury while skiing down slopes.
Gloves/Mittens
A good pair of gloves or mittens is essential skiing or winter sports accessory. Wearing the accessory will keep your hands warm. Your fingers will become frigid and numb without wearing a pair of good quality gloves or mittens.
At high-altitudes, the density of UV rays is high. It is because the air is thinner at high altitudes resulting in less filtration of harmful UV rays. Besides, the white snow brightly reflects the sunlight that may blind your vision for some time. Further, ice particles can get into the eyes. Wearing a pair of UV ray protection goggles while skiing or snowboarding will keep your eyes completely safe and make the winter sport more enjoyable.
Jacket
While choosing a jacket for snowboarding, make sure it is comfortable to wear and does not give more importance in style or color. Purchasing a nice looking jacket will be of no use if it does not fit satisfactorily. Wearing a hoodie jacket is ideal for snowboarding. Also, make sure that your jacket is a bit longer. It is because a jacket with a bit extra size will block snow entering into snow pants. There are also some models of jackets available where the jacket is connected to the pant. That is Jacket and pant connected together. This style prevents snow from getting into unwanted places.
Skateboard and longboard sound similar. So, these two terms confuse many people and think that they are identical while they are not. The first difference is a longboard is a variation of a short skateboard. Manufacturers made this long version of skateboard with different styles to give riders a quite different riding experience. However, there are some other differences too. Let's discuss those differences too.
The shape:
A long skateboard as the name implies comes with longer board than that of short skateboard. The length of the longboard is between 33 to 60 inches and the width is 9 to 10 inches while a short skateboard is 28 to 32 inches long and the width is 7 to 10 inches.
Longboards are more stable, and balancing your body weight is easier than that of short skateboard counterparts. For this reason, a long skateboard is ideal for beginner skateboarders.
Wheels and trucks:
Both short and long skateboards have trucks beneath the deck. But trucks for short skateboards are solid, making the unit ideal for performing different tricks.
On the other hand, trucks for long skateboards are flexible, which offers riders a smooth and comfortable riding experience.
Riding the board:
To start the both skateboard and longboard, riders need to push the ground using one leg while keeping the other leg on the deck Short skateboards are ideal for tight turn and ramp and lightweight makes them great for flips and leaps. However, the downside of the short skateboards are they are less stable and offers less comfortable riding experience.
On the other hand, Manufacturers designed longboards for traveling long distances. On a smooth surface, riders enjoy great fun when they cruise through miles. Longboards are ideal for downhill and cross country.
Wheels
The wheels of longboards are larger and softer than their short skateboards counterparts. They(wheels of longboard) travel faster and have more shock-absorption capability. The wheels of the short skateboard, on the other hand, presumably shorter that offer better control of the board and doing various tricks.
Balance:
Since longboards are wider and longer, blanching them is easier than those of minified version of the skateboard. Longboards are ideal for people with large feet and who are new to the skating world.
Tricks
Regarding performing and displaying various tricks like curving or leaping, short skateboards are the clear winner over longboards.

The writing of this article aims to help you to pick the right snowboard. Choosing the ideal snowboard is difficult because there are so many models of skateboards on the market.
Like any other product on the market, selecting a snowboard requires different understanding features of the skateboard. These features are
When you understand all these features well, you will have a good idea of what to look for in a perfect snowboard. Let's analyse these features one by one.
Snowboard length
The length of the snowboard depends on four things. These are height, weight, riding style, and the ability of the snowboarders. To measure a snowboard’s height is suitable for you is to stand up beside the board, and if it reaches up to your chin, that height is perfect for you. This height measurement process indicates that the taller you are, the higher the snowboard should be.
But this height measurement process of the snowboard is not always accurate. It is because, besides height, you also need to take into account your weight as well. If you are a tall person measuring six feet tall and weighs 120 pounds, using a long snowboard is not a good idea. You need to use a board with 160cm long.
However, with the same height that is six feet, if your weight is 220 pounds, the ideal height of the skateboard would be 164cm. The style of riding also influences the length of the board. Free riders, for example, use shot snowboard for better maneuverability.
The last factor that decides the length of the board is the ability of the snowboarders. If he or she is a beginner snowboarder, using a small board is suitable for snowboarding.
Snowboard width
The width of a snowboard is quite important if your feet are large. Ride on a pair of the wide board if your feet are US men’s size 11 or larger. Riding on a pair of narrow board with large feet will result in slipping out of the board frequently.
Snowboard shape
All models of snowboards come in two different shapes. These are twin boards and directional boards.
The twin boards have an identical shape in both ends, and riders can use either end. If you like freeriding, the twin board is ideal for you.
Other features of snowboards
Two other important features of snowboards are price and durability. The price of snowboards does not vary widely. The average price is &400 to &500. Although there are some high-end models with a price tag of close to $1000, most models are affordable budget-friendly.
The last important feature of a snowboard is its durability. The longevity of the board depends on three factors-the types of wood used to manufacture the board, lamination, and the base material. There are some inexpensive models of snowboards within the price range of $250 to $300. But, they are not quite durable. By spending $400 to $500, expect to get a good-quality, highly durable snowboard.

When it is about skate on longboard many beginners wrongly perceive that riding on long board is the same thing as the riding on the skate. But they are two different things. This post will clear the misconception regarding the longboard and skateboard and will also describe how to skate on longboards
Longboard vs skateboard
From a technical point of view longboard is a skateboard since it is being used for the same purpose-skating. The shorter version of a longboard is a skateboard. In order to avoid confusion, these two terms have been evolved-long board and skateboard. Let's know the difference between longboard and skateboard.
As the name implies, a longboard is longer. The length of a longboard is generally 42 inches long. But sometimes it could be as long as 50 inches long. There is also some shorter version of longboard which measures 34 inches. Longboards are ideal for tricks or jumps.
The shape of the longboard is asymmetrical. That means their head and tail part does not equally shape.
Longboards are available in different styles and shapes. Different styles and shapes allow users to enjoy a different form of riding.
What are the different types of longboards?
Riding on longboard offers you more stability. The simple equation is the longer the board, the more stable it is. But the downside is you will get enjoy much alacrity. Your turning will not as sharp as with skateboard. Before purchasing a longboard it is important to know what different types of longboard are so that you can pick the one that will allow you to enjoy the riding most.
Cruiser or pintail board:
If you want to use your longboard for commuting, cruiser or pintail board will be ideal for you. The nose of the cruiser is slightly pointed and it has a rounded tail.
Dropdown or drop through longboards:
These longboards are specially designed for demonstrating your different forms of skills for example, dancing on a longboard.
Lets back to our main discussion- how to skate on longboards. First, things you need to gather before riding a longboard.
You need to manage a few things to start your journey with a longboard. These are given below
A protective helmet
Shoes specially made for skateboarding
There are also some optional accessories for example, elbow pads, knee pads. We would like to discuss the process in a step by step way.
Step 1:
The first step of longboard skating is finding your stance. Stance means the way you will stand on your longboard. The way people stand on the board is they put one foot on the front side of the board. And the other foot on the backside of the board. The foot placed in front of the board is responsible for maintaining balance while the foot placed backside of the board is used to propel you off the ground.
There are two types of stances. One is a regular stance. And the other is a goofy stance. People who use regular stance place their left foot on the front side of the board and the right foot on the back side of the board. On the other hand, people who use goofy stance place their right front on the front side of the board and the left foot on the backside of the board. To determine whether you are goofy or right stance user, request someone to push you a bit. Let's see which foot goes forward first? Right or left? If it is right that means you are a goofy stance user. If it is left, you will be a regular stance user.
Step 2:
After finding your stance, the next step is practicing your stance of a flat, smooth surface. Practicing means standing on the board, bending your knees, crouch down on the ground.
Step3:
Step 3 involves starting moving your longboard. To do that leave your back foot from the board and place it on the ground. Then push the board with your front foot. Your board will start to roll.
Step 4:
Step 4 is stopping the board. The safe way to stop the board is removing one foot off the board and then dragging it along the ground. It will slow down the longboard and eventually stop the board.
